Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

CITY FSD (“we”, “us”) runs this website, a local directory where people find businesses, services and public offices in Faisalabad, read and write reviews, and where business owners manage their listings.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your name, email address, mobile / WhatsApp number, password (stored only in scrambled “hashed” form, never readable) and, if you add one, a profile photo.
• Business listings: everything you add to a listing, such as its name, category, address, phone and WhatsApp numbers, opening hours, photos, menu or product items and prices. For public offices this can include the name and phone number of the officer in charge (for example a police station's SHO).
• Reviews: your star rating, review text and review photos, and which reviews you mark as helpful or report.
• Ownership claims and verification: your name, phone number, your role at the business and any proof you upload, such as a photo of a shop board, visiting card, bill or registration certificate.
• Messages: what you send through the contact form, with the email or phone number you give us.

Information collected automatically

• Sign-in records: when you sign in, and while you are signed in, we record your IP address, the type of browser and device (for example “Chrome on Android”) and the time.
• Approximate location: from the IP address we work out the country, region and city using the MaxMind GeoLite2 database, which is stored on our own server. Your IP address is not sent to MaxMind for this.
• Searches: the words, category and area you search for and how many results were found. If you are signed in, the search is linked to your account.
• Listing statistics: we count views of business pages and taps on call, WhatsApp and directions buttons. Owners see these as totals; they don't see who you are.
• Cookies: we use cookies only to keep you signed in (including “Remember me”), keep your session secure and protect forms from misuse. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking tools.

3. How we use it

• To run the website: show listings and reviews, let you save places, and let owners manage their businesses.
• To confirm your mobile number with a one-time WhatsApp code when you register or reset your password, and, for administrators, as a second sign-in step.
• To keep accounts and the website safe: spotting unusual sign-ins, limiting repeated attempts and preventing spam, fake listings and fake reviews.
• To check new listings, edits, ownership claims, verification documents and reported reviews.
• To send you notifications about your listings, claims and account on the website and, if enabled, by email.
• To improve CITY FSD, for example by finding searches that return no results so we can add missing businesses.
• To reply when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

4. What other people can see

• Public: business listings and everything on them (including the business phone and WhatsApp numbers and officer-in-charge details you add), and your reviews together with your name and profile photo. Owners' replies to reviews are public too.
• Not public: your account email, your personal phone number, your password, saved places, sign-in records, location, searches, ownership claims, verification documents and contact messages.

5. Sharing and other services

We share information only where needed to run the website:

• WhatsApp (Meta): when verification codes are sent through the WhatsApp Business Platform, your mobile number and the code are passed to Meta to deliver the message.
• Email: if email notifications or password-reset emails are used, your email address and the message go through our email provider.
• Hosting: the website and its data are stored with our hosting provider.
• Maps: the map on a business page is loaded from Google Maps, and the “Directions” button opens Google Maps. When you add a business, “Use my current location” sends your position to Google Maps once to find your address and area (we don't keep the position, apart from the map pin of the listing you submit), and the street address box sends what you type to Google Maps for suggestions. We keep a record of these lookups (what was typed, the result, your account and IP address) for about a year to prevent misuse. Google receives your IP address when its maps load, under its own privacy policy.
• Default profile pictures: if you have not uploaded a photo, we show a picture with your initials, made on our own site. Your name is not sent to anyone for this.
• The law: we may share information when required by Pakistani law or a valid request from authorities, or to protect people from harm or fraud.

6. Access by our team

Authorised CITY FSD administrators can see account details, sign-in records and the documents sent for claims and verification so they can review them and keep the site safe. To solve a problem you report, an administrator may sign in to the website as your account. Every such action by an administrator is recorded in our activity log.

7. How long we keep it

• Account information, reviews, sign-in records and searches are kept while your account exists.
• Ownership-claim and verification documents are kept as a record of the decision.
• When an account is deleted, its reviews, saved places, notifications and sign-in records are deleted. The business listings it managed may stay on the website without an owner so that the business can still be found and claimed.
• Contact messages are kept until we no longer need them to help you.

8. Your choices

• Update your name, email, phone and profile photo, and change your password, in Account → Settings.
• Edit or delete your own reviews from Account → My Reviews.
• Owners can edit or delete their listings from their dashboard.
• To get a copy of your information, correct something you cannot change yourself, or delete your account, contact us.

9. Security

Passwords are stored only in hashed form, secret service keys are encrypted, and ownership and verification documents are kept outside the public part of the website where only administrators can open them. Uploaded pictures are re-processed and compressed, which also removes hidden photo details such as the GPS location saved by phone cameras. No website can be completely secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use elsewhere.

10. Children

CITY FSD is not meant for children under 13, and they should not create an account. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website changes. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version; important changes will also be announced on the website.
